Forget the tears and tantrums, every time my 5-year old son goes down a snake, he has to do it again and again - you should hear his giggle! The ball plops through a hole at the snake's head and rolls along grooves until it reaches the tail.The other stroke of genius is that you play with 2 dice (except on your first turn & at the end). My son began (aged 4) by counting the dots on the dice. Now he's got so used to adding up numbers up to 6, he's way ahead of the class.The 2 dice mean that you can advance up the board very quickly, and some games are very short (especially as there's a ladder straight to 100). But one of the rules states that you 'bounce' off 100 if your throw is too big. (So if you're on 95 & throw a 6, you bouce back to 99.) We've had some very quick games, and some extraordinarily long ones too!Great fun, I'd recommend it to anyone - even if you don't have kids! |
