I've recorded from more than half of my 100 discs without problems. At about twelve pence per disc they represent excellent value. Easy to write on the smooth/mirroresque surface with an appropriate disc writing pen. I was weary of changing from a supermarket own-brand which always worked and easily available with shopping but significant difference in cost was worth a try. Cheap, reliable and easily stored.
masses of packaging, flimsy discs, difficult to close lid over spindle resulting in discs spilling over floor. to cap it all, many wouldn't record - am working my way through them to see how many
Just finished one tube of 100 of these DVD and only 1 of them gave me a data error (and it could have been my fault since I slightly tilted my laptop while it was still recording). I have to say I am incredibly impressed with the quality of these DVDs; I would, and in fact do, recommend them to anybody. The only thing that bothers me slightly is the price fluctuation, but that probably depends on a lot of factors that I don't really know about.
Thought I'd try these DVD+R because of the price, normaly I go for TDK or PHILLIPS but I thought OK, I'll give these ago. My computer has had little problems with them, using them for Data Backups. I've always prefered DVD over CD for Backups for the space. Although I have had one faulty disc so far, it happens. My DVD Player / Recorder wasn't as happy, I'd recorded from TV and began transfering to the DVD and everything seemed fine, and if I'd have kept it simple maybe it would have been but the machine as menu options which I like to program for it to look good, the problems then began. The DVD became corrupt. Luckily it played through my computer. But I've had another similar problem so I won't use these DVDs in the Player / Recorder again. Cheap Discs, OK if you don't ask too much from them, or that's my impression of them.
Is it a spindle of 100 DVD+R? Yes Do they work? Yes Were they a good price? Yes Will I order again when I eventually run out? Yes If I want dual layer, printable, lightscribe or RW I'll pay more accordingly. But for good quality disks at a price that's right, this does the job.
There were marginal benefits for buying premium DVD+Rs, but those costs were not justifiable for me when I need something cheap and cheerful that never breaks - like an old pair of inexpensive trainers that no matter how badly you bash it it stayed intact. This set of dvd+r is just like that. Suits my purpose perfectly. Now that I never writes at 16x, for the simple reason slower writes would statistically last longer than faster writes anyhow. So in the end it's a simple choice - get this and save your money for something else.
As you'd expect from the description and image this product is a spindle and case containing 100 blank disks of the DVD+R variety. I've used them for basic tasks and have had no problems whatsoever. My one gripe with this product was that the 'frustration free packaging' instead meant being delivered in a rather oversized box, which seems a bit wasteful and more frustrating as i then had to carry the large box home from work (I didnt think they'd fit through my letterbox..and in this sized box i was definitly right)
I purchased these as I am having so many problems getting discs to work in my DVD writer I didn't want to buy anything more expensive as I have wasted so much already. When they arrived I held my breath in anticipation as to whether they would indeed work! However again they didn't but this time it had nothing to do with the make. I discovered the discs are RW disc! Nowhere in the title or discription does it mention that fact apart from after they arrived I noticed it in the photo when I looked very closely. Very disappointing. I'm sure if they hadn't been RW they would've been fine and at a great price but not this time. Dont buy unless you want RW discs.
I am trying these in my Sony Optiarc burner using Cyberlinks Power director 8 ultimate to burn a full disc of programs for my grandchild to watch. Took about 12 minutes. Did another one though only to half the capacity of the disc and it took 8 minutes. I've just used Roxio Creator 2009 to burn my 3rd disc within 3 minutes and 700 plus megabytes. So far no coasters. Using Roxio Creator 2009 to copy PC tools magazine disc to disc to was no trouble as well. Tried copying a program disc to disc and once again perfect burn. I've also played the discs in different drives and they read no problem at all. . I do have one moan they don't do them in printable surface for the same price.
They are exactly as described: DVD+R, 100 on a spindle. I was successfully able to burn an iso image on one and will be doing data tomorrow but can't see where it could possibly go wrong. The discs themselves are silver with pleasant enough Amazon Basics branding on them, but you are on your own when it comes to labelling them, insofar as there aren't any lines for you to write on and they aren't printer-friendly. Personally, I quite like this. As for the "frustration-free packaging" they made rather a joke out of this by packing the frustration free box in another box then cramming the outer box full of scrunched-up brown paper: it was all a bit pass-the-parcel. I can't say I've ever been frustrated by the way my DVDs have been packaged and I didn't notice anything particularly special about the way they were packed. Also I'm not a fan of the type of closure they have used for the spindle cover. It's a bit fiddly. In terms of value for money, personally it was excellent as I got them free from the Vine programme, but for those who are required to pay for them it's not too shoddy either. To be fair, you may well find others on offer in a 100 spindle cheaper and you might even find some eligible for free delivery, but these tend to come and go: you don't tend to find the same thing each time you look for it, whereas these are almost certainly always going to be here with free delivery, so you can get consistency of product with them. I shall certainly consider paying for these at some point in the future. In summary: perfectly adequate.
