The best straighteners I've ever owned!. I've had these for about 18 months now and I wouldnt dream of replacing them. When I bought them they were half price from fifty to twenty five quid in Argos to replace some of the thin ceramic babyliss ones I had for a couple of months before.
They are amaazing. They get up to 200 degrees, however the glass plates really make the straightness last. (I have some babyliss portable straighteners for when I'm on holiday etc and they apparently get to 215 degrees, but the straightness doesnt last for 1/5 as long as it does these, perhaps because theyre only ceramic and these are glass).
I have long hair but it is very thick and quite wavy when not blow dried, and these really calm it down. I'll often straighten my hair at 8am or before and it is silky smooth and straight all day, and even into the next day if I dont get chance to wash it again. I would never go back to ceramic plates after this, I have never got these kinds of results since I was 16 and used an iron! So this is a much safer option with similar results!
About the size of the plates, I personally prefer wider ones rather than narrow ones - having long hair they get the job done the first time around, taking less time. I have curling tongues to make my hair curly, not straighteners!
Love the temperature control dial - I do 200 degrees for my hair and 180 for my fringe, not sure why! 200 degrees for my fringe seems to send it too straight and into my eyes, so you can really see the difference when set at different temperatures.
Oh I also love the little stand that comes with it - I have had it on my TV since I've had it but last weekend I got a new flat panel TV so have affixed the stand to my wall, which I love as I can keep my surfaces clear and can grab them in ease whenever I need them!
In short they are a great buy, have lasted me 18 months and look as new as when I got them, no damage or complaints, and they just make life so much simpler - let you get on with your day rather than worrying if your hair is starting to kink!

Not what I'd hoped for...and I wouldn't buy a set!. I have long fine reasonably straight hair with annoying kinks in it.
After years of successfully using the kitchen iron with a towel layed flat on a table, to straighten my hair, I was fortunate (depending on how you look at it!) to be given a set of these thermaglass straighteners. so I didnt have to fork out any money for them...I wouldn't bother either!

Inside the handle, it has a protruding plastic post on one side that fits into a corresponding hole on the other side just underneath the plates. This is to keep the plates inline when closing...one would assume!
Well this causes a lot of distress, as my long hair gets caught in the hole when it's closed which pulls and breaks my hair when running the plates down. It is very hard to avoid getting some hair caught up in here no matter how carefull I am, especially when doing the back of my hair.
The cord is fixed and not swivel so the wire gets twisted or caught around things.
Even though wide plates are meant for longer hair, I would still prefer a slimlined set as wide plates prevents alternative styles like curling for a different look.
I would like a set of straighteners and the best ones Ive used are a set my son bought from Boots last year - Remmington. Sadly,he took them with him when he moved out, so I'm back to the ironing board again, for a while until I can afford a set for myself! lol.

Not impressed. Brilliant for length of time it takes to heat up, however, very very very disappointed with the time it takes to actually straighten my hair! Doesn't get it perfectly straight either, I've resorted to using my old Futura straighteners, bought from my salon 3 years ago. Would only recommend these to someone who already has straightish hair, and wants to just give it the once over!

Marvellous your hair will love em. I loved these hair straighteners they made my hair very straight. i had horrible big metal ones that didnt work very well so i treated myself. these were great i managed to do my long thick blonde hair in like 15mins. it was great. they were so light i could use them single handed. you also get a stand to put them in when they are heating up which stops me burning my bed covers. great!!!! i used them on my hair for the 1st time and lots people noticed i think these are a bargain !!!!!

Very effective straightening for unruly locks. I've had several different straightening irons over the years to tackle my fine, curly hair, and I felt the glass plates on this Babyliss were an intriguing innovation. I've not had success with every Babyliss product, but the price couldn't be beat. I'm really glad I purchased this straightening styler. It really met my fussy expectations and delivered straight, shiny hair in a minimum of time. It was light in weight and easy to use right out of the box with no practice needed. The comb feature is really helpful in guiding the hair between the plates. If the 3/4" version also had a comb, I would purchase that as well. The straightener performed as well as my solid ceramic straightening iron, and the manufacturer claims that the glass is less likely to damage hair. From its first use, I have never smelled any offensive odour. Some other irons do not straighten the thinner hair ends or short fringes because the plates allow the hair to 'fall through.' But this styler tackled all my frizzies really well. This straightener effectively handled long hair, short hair, and a fringe cursed with cowlicks. A really great price and a 3 year warranty really sold me. Definately one of my top favorite styling appliances!
