Top Amazon Review
Terry Pratchett's Discworld is, perhaps unsurprisingly given the game's title, the setting for this point-and-click romp which combines the best elements of Bogart-esque private eye movies with the best-known fantasy environment in the world. The game follows the trials and tribulations of the Discworld's first PI as he takes on his first case--a missing persons job on behalf of a darkly mysterious female client who's husband has gone walkies. It's pretty standard adventure fare with pointing and clicking aplenty as the case unravels, villains are revealed and outrageously long FMV sequences disturb the flow of the plot.OK, so far it doesn't sound that good, right? But perseverance is the name of the game and you won't be able to help getting drawn further into the plot to the point where it is impossible to leave it alone. The major draw in this title is the obvious input from Pratchett himself. The characters really bring this game to life, mixing the new, such as Lewton the private eye and main character, with the old, Nobby Nobbs of the City Guard, Death and the Grim Squeaker--a hilarious character who is actually the Death of Rats.Comedy abounds here, from the obvious to the incredibly subtle, and there is plenty going on to keep you playing for quite a while. At the end of the day, this is more suited to the Discworld fan then to someone looking idly around for an adventure game to fill in a couple of hours, but with its budget price thanks to an Infogrames re-release, Discworld Noir is a good purchase.
Customer Review 1
Very different from the discworld serie. I thought it would be a better game than the exellent discworld but it just bored me before i get to the middle of it and it remain me of an old click n go on pc that game is okay for a kwid or two but i wouldn t waiste my money on an old game like that but i had it at a time just to make it nice on a shelve
so i guess it s another historic game for collectors only
Customer Review 2
Film. This game is absolutely amazing!! i myself am a huge Pratchet fan and for anyone else who is this is definetely the game for you. DO NOT go and buy this game if you are looking for a hands on action adventure.
The game is set up like a PC there is a mouse to control what your character does where he goes who he speaks to etc. some may find it boring in that aspect but if you are a patient person and like a good adventure unfolding infront of you then this game is definately for you.
But with a storyline from Pratchet himself how could it go wrong
this game, if you are willing to let it, will take you to a world rarely visited by gamers
Customer Review 3
Good game. Discworld Noir is the third instalment of the pratchett discworld based adveture games. An intial warning is that if you are not a discworld fan you may not enjoy it. However Discworld Noir exceeds the previous 2 instalments as a plot written especially for the game by Pratchett allows the gamers from a non-discworld background to enjoy it as much as others. A good soild plot with some nice atmospheric lighting, the game takes a playful poke at the 'film-noir' genre. Although it is possible to completly the game by randomly clicking for hours on end until you succeed i wouldnt recomend it as to do so will prevent you being drawn deeply and satisfyingly into a dark and mysterous world.
Customer Review 4
A good Discworld Game. A fun game that draws insperation from the books. some great caraters from the boks and some greet new characters. not the best puzzle game ever but not just a cheap use of the fact its set in the discworld. a thourghly fun and intriging plot.
Customer Review 5
A story, not a game- and a very dull one.. I really didn't enjoy this game. In it you play a private detective, called Lewton, but in actually fact the real role of the player is just to move him from screen to screen. There are not any puzzles as such, and the art of conversation seems to be just to pick up some phrases and click on them until the person resonds. It is very slow, scenes are lifeless- not at all how Ankh-Morpork ( the city where it is set ) should be. Basically, its a story- moving around is so spoonfed that it is just boring. It is slow, there is very limited action, and some of the graphics are awful- his girlfriend for example looks like a cross between a bird and gods-know-what.Nobby is from Ankh-Morpork, not Ulster, so I am unsure whay he has that accent. Avoid, unless you are a REALLY big fan of the discworld. I'm sure there is a good story there, but its just too slow and boring to figure it out.
