Shambolic, passionate, amazing!. I was for some reason put of buying this album because of all the negative reviews i read on it. However due to being an avid 'libertines' and "Babyshambles" fan i decided to buy it anyway after having played all of the other albums to death and i am so glad i did. True its not perfect but thats all part of the charm, its rough, edgy and real, a quality which is hard to find in lots of modern music.

Why haven't you brought this album?. Firstly, this album is in all manner of ways better then `Shotter's Nation' - Doherty's lyrics are simply sublime, more akin to poetry. There is not a bad song here, pentonville seems out of place at first; yet that's not a criticism, this album is melodic delight with classic songs such as: forever, back from the dead, A'rebours , Killamangiro and especially 8 dead boys, which I would rate a better song then many libertines tracks.

Drug addled ****wit makes crap album and the NME love it, shocker.. Oh dear, Pete D is a waster who doesn't deserve the attention he gets. For some bizarre reason he has won an NME award for hero of 08. Well it just goes to show what those music journos know. Babyshamles is right, its a shambles that a baby could better. They can't play or sing, hell bill and ted had more talent and they were fictional. Killamangiro? utter tripe.

PURe HELL. Mediocrity and more mediocrity from 2nd rate wannabe richard hell and the voidoids! check out the real thing or forget this or the libertines.

It's a shambles, baby, and i'd be a fool to resist!. This is not like the Libertines stuff, i think it's far better. If you're more into purely Libertines-style songs then go for Dirty Pretty Things. Down In Albion has such a mix of different styles of songs: hard and fast, acoustic rumbling, love songs, with sloppy guitars, mumbles and screams, muttering, Kate Moss singing, chants, wails, even the sounds of cups of tea being made.
16 songs, most of which are over three mins, a lot are over four mins.
I bought this over a year ago and it stayed in my player for months.
If you like romantic notions of great Albion: streets, railway stations, gutters and bus stops, if you like bands like The Smiths, and if you like libertinesque songs it does have some, plus raw, mean punk riffs, plus jangley guitars and crooning, get it.
This is excellent melodies, lyrics, music, proving these boys in the band have definately got it. A briliant first album from this band.
A perfect shambles.
