Ecozone Moonlight Energy-Saving Nightlight

What a disappointment. The good: a seemingly nicely designed slim nightlight with a strong pleasant green glow. I liked it so much i bought 3 more! The bad: truly terrible reliability. Of the 4 i've bought, 3 have died, 1 within 2 weeks, the others within a couple of months. I fully expect the other one to follow suit shortly. The quoted figure of 26000 hours average use appears to be either a jest, or more likely deliberately misleading. By my reckoning that should mean that you should be able to leave one of these on permanently and expect it to last the best part of 3 years. No. What really irks about this, is the fact that this product blatantly uses the "eco", energy-saving label to sell itself. The amount of energy wasted in producing, packaging and distributing such a short lived product must surely dwarf the amount one could hope to save through it's lower power consumption. This product is surely a false economy, both in terms of cost to the consumer, and energy and natural resource wastage. A con essentially. Perhaps unintentional? I beg the manufacturers think again, and instead design and make something that will actually last. That's the only way to actually be credibly "eco-friendly".

I bought one for my 5 month baby's room about 4 months ago. Works fine. It's plugged in about 1.5 meters from his cot. If I'm coming from a well lit room to investigate a cry I do struggle to see his face properly but there's enough light to make out the outline of his body. If he wakes me up in the night I can just about see his face. It's small enough to take when we visit friends overnight and having the same light conditions helps my son sleep somewhere unfamiliar.

This is a great little soft lighting unit for the bedroom of a child, as you would expect. It is also useful for placing in stairwells and other dark areas that people might need to use during the night. My elderly father-in-law has one to help him see the stuff in his bedroom if he wakes in the night and needs to get to the bathroom.

Used this nightlight for 4 months now and waiting in some trepidation for it to go wrong as per some other reviewers' experiences! But so far it is great: 1. good looks, very slim, completely unobtrusive 2. we use it at floor level on the landing in case one of us gets up in the night, and it is just the right light level for safety without being disturbing (I can't comment on whether it would be too bright in a child's bedroom) 3. green light not bad, it's quite a gentle, computery glow We actually turn it off during the day, although you are supposed to be able to leave it on constantly. I will update if any future problem but in the meantime I definitely recommend it for other insomniacs on the hallway or stairs !

This is an excellent night light and works really well. However my son just nudged the light when it was plugged in and it stopped working after that. I would recoommend the product, seems like excellent build quality, but be carefull not to knock while plugged in, it will short-circuit out!

Purchased 4 nightlights. Two were defective, one arrived with broken earth pin the other ceased to work after only two days. Received almost immediate refund for first defect but was unable to get a satisfactory response from the distributor Avides Media even after too many emails. Eventually was refunded by Amazon direct. Obvious to say that Avides' after sales service needs to be improved. Quality of the product is also doubtful but still not sure if I've just been unlucky since remaining two are working perfectly.

Bought for the energy-saving aspects of this, which to be honest I'm taking on trust. However, I do have two issues: 1) It broke in less than 6 months. Thankfully Amazon just sent a replacement; but it's another example of the extremely long lifetimes claimed for low-energy lighting not actually seeming to be reflected in real-world usage. 2) It's actually quite bright, to the extent that it illuminates the room too much, and we have to mask out much of the light with a teddy bear.

I think the Moonlight is a great invention! I leave it on all night for my daughter who absoultely loves it and will not sleep without it! I also I got one for the passage, so I don't have to leave the landing light on at night!!!

this really is an energy efficient nightlight, it has only worked for a month ! not very cost effective !

Low energy consumption from this nightlight - we leave it switched on all night and don't worry about the cost. The light is at the right brightness so it doesn't keep you awake but you can see where you're walking in the dark. The eerie green glow takes a few days to get used to, but overall the product is very useful. Recommended.
