Top Amazon Review

With the EyeToy: Groove software, Sony's EyeToy peripheral (a USB camera that plugs into the PlayStation2 console, available separately) is given a remarkable new use. Simply put, EyeToy: Groove lets you dance and--get this--watch live footage of your efforts on your TV screen. Furthermore, Groove challenges you to keep pace with its soundtrack and doesn't require the use of any controller. EyeToy: Groove is simplicity itself. Players stand in front of the EyeToy and TV, and move in time with the on-screen indications. Keep up with the beat and success is guaranteed; dance sloppily and it's Game Over. There's a total of 26 tracks to dance along with--including hits from Junior Senior, Madonna, Fatboy Slim and Elvis. Suffice it to say that Groove was given that name for a very good reason. It's also possible to boogie on down with friends. At certain points, players must dance in sync on-screen together, while at other times players must alternately jump in and out of the spotlight. With a few friends and the necessary equipment, Groove is a sure-fire hit. It can be pretty embarrassing, especially during some of the cheesier tracks (such as "Hooray Hooray It's A Cheeky Holiday"), but there's no denying the fun and all-round grooviness to be found on this disc.

Customer Review 1

Great workout. I brought this game this year and so far the camera is still set up on my PS2, its great for exercising and getting rid of excess energy, especially if the weather is horrible. The Songs get a bit boring after a while, but they are mostly songs that are recognisable, which makes the game so much more fun. You can create your own moves to the songs as well, so you can test you mates on your own moves! The main down side to the hole camera thing, is the flat screen TV's, you can't put the camera on top of the TV with out a lot of trouble.

Customer Review 2

GREAT BUT FIDDLY. 26th november 2004.. Great game, i saw it at a friends house. The songs are really good and the moves are ace. even though it shows a model on where to stand the game is quite fiddly on pressing buttons. It's not like on your controller where you press the buttons, your just using your hands. When you have chosen the song, you just follow the arrows on the screen but it's like you are dancing aswell with only using hands. I would only reccommend this for people who have a larger screen television, it's not getting the whole body that should be in and you can stand further away with your friends and have more space. Buyit.

Customer Review 3

Good if you're drunk. Being a 'dance mat games' fan I thought I would give this a try. The dancing points are very responsive, but when you get to the menus it takes forever to acknowledge anything. The music selection was quite good and the movie explaining how to use the eye toy was funny, however there is no obvious way to skip it.I would only recomend buying this game if you like dance mat games and have mastered the eye toy, otherwise its just agravating.

Customer Review 4

Fiddly. I loved the beat freak game on the original eye toy game and bought Groove to help me exercise without dying of boredom. The game itself is fine once it gets going but the loading time is slow and the saving is far too fiddly. The original game allowed you to create a personal profile and then confirm that it was you each game. With this version you have to pick out your name letter by letter after every game. If you want to save the high score you are asked twice to confirm that you want to save. You seem to spend as much time selecting tracks or saving as you do dancing. It lets down what should be a really good game.

Customer Review 5

Grooovy!. I have to admit I bought this game with sincere reservations about it, having read the reviews on here and elsewhere. A friend of mine is a great Dance Mat fanatic (although I have to be truthful here and say that she isn't actually very good) and I really only bought it for her.Well, how mistaken I was! I and my housemates have been addicted ever since. While there isn't a great deal of songs to choose from, that's more than compensated by the fact they are all well known hits, as opposed to the obscure techno and J-Pop tracks included with mat-based games. The best part, however, is that by playing well you can unlock new tracks including 'Asereje' (Las Ketchup) and 'Addicted to Bass' (Puretone); and by doing well on Hard mode you can unlock master difficulty which is a great laugh for anyone watching.Excellent exercise, although as someone with two left feet (arms) I was very surprised I could complete every song on master difficulty; beginners will have no trouble, but watch out for your arms hurting the next day! Great game.
