Top Amazon Review

The second season of Farscape expands upon and develops the characters introduced in the ambitious first season. John Crichton's new nemesis is the deadly Scorpius, replacing Crais who has taken the living ship Moya's offspring on a voyage into the unknown. Moya's regular crew--Aeryn, Zhaan, Chiana, D'Argo and Rygel--remain as divided and suspicious of each other as ever, yet somehow manage to pull together at times of crisis. The writers continue to exploit the show's gift for surprising as well as emotionally convincing character development, while the CGI effects, prosthetics and state-of-the-art puppetry--courtesy of Jim Henson's Creature Shop--continue to make Farscape the most original-looking sci-fi show on TV. The witty scripts, peppered with post-modern pop culture references and film in-jokes, are also a breath of fresh air. The result is episodic TV sci-fi that continually pushes at the accepted boundaries of the genre.

Shocking.... I was already a confirmed Farscape addict long before this DVD became available, so this review may display just a small hint of bias... If you're a newcomer to 'scape, this DVD is probably not the best place to start - my recommendation is to go right back to the beginning of Season 1 and start there - one thing Farscape does really well is develop it's characters, so joining here would leave a whole slew of Farscape history unanswered. On the other hand, if you've seen a few, and you're not 100% sure whether to plump for actually buying a DVD, then cast your fears aside, and buy this one - because it contains quite possibly some of the best Farscape story telling seen so far.The set contains four episodes: The "Liars, Guns and Money" trilogy, which sees our heros having to rob a bank (well, a Shadow Depository) in order to obtain the cash to buy D'Argo's son out of slavery. Needless to say, things don't go quite according to plan, and the unexpected appearance of Crichton's nemesis - Scorpius - does nothing to help the sanity of Moya's crew..."Die Me Dichotomy" is the last of Season 2, and is probably one of the most emotional episodes of Farscape yet seen. All is not well with Crichton, Scorpius' neural chip is not treating Crichton well, and events take a particularly tragic turn. This DVD set is worth more than 5 stars; it shines above even the rest of the available Farscape box sets. It is, quite simply, story telling at it's absolute best. Buy it - you won't regret it.

Customer Review 2

Lush. Simply one of the best programmes on TV, these last four eps are simply the best episodes in Farscape so far. Amazing production values, fantastic dialogue and the most gripping storyline since Empire. Like the guy (or gal) says, if you have to buy one Farscape DVD or video, this is the one to get. You don't just want this, you NEED this. The most underrated sci-fi on TV at the mo, and in need of a big-budget movie soon please. (Grovel grovel, beg beg) Please?

Customer Review 3

Wow!!!. Farscape goes from strength to strength with this last DVD boxset of season two. The first three episodes are the "Liars, Guns and Money trilogy, where Stark returns from the dead with a plan to rescue Dargo's son Jothee, from slave traders. The problem is they have to rob a heavily armed shadow depository, as well as eluding Crichton's nemesis, the evil Scorpius. The fourth episode of the boxset is the season finale, Die me, Dichtomy. Moyas crew locate a hospital planet with the hope of finally removing the chip in Crichtons brain. Unfortunately for Crichton, the Scorpius clone in his head has other plans. Full of top notch acting from the ever reliable cast, spectacular special effects (the SFX department have really out done themselves this time), mixed with humour, (Rygel keeping the head of an old enemy is morbidely funny), romance (Aeryn and John finally admit their feelings to one another), and tragedy, (John loses a lot in these episodes, not just his mind).Included on one of the discs area variety of interesting extras,(want to see Scorpius minus his prosthetics?, Did you know Crais does Pilots voice?). This is an amazing end for Farscapes outstanding second season, roll on series three!!!!

Customer Review 4

Easily the best thing on TV at the mo. Series two has gone on to show that TV science fiction can still be top notch without scientific gobbledy gook or dodgy acting and effects. Farscape is more like the original Star Trek than its younger offsprings, with action sequences aplenty and a plot you can follow without having a degree in asto-engineering and quantum mechanics. Great drama, great action and great emotion. And possibly the best sci-fi cliffhanger ending since Empire Strikes Back. Buy it. Buy it now. Buy it with all rapidity.

Customer Review 5

If you only buy one Farscape release in your life get this. These 4 episodes mark the point at which all doubt was erased from my mind and Farscape truly became in my opinion one of the greatest shows ever! The bulk of this release is taken up with the 3 parter "Liars, Guns and Money" in which Stark (Paul Goddard) returns from the dead with a plan to rescue D'argo (Anthony Simcoe)'s son Jothee (Matt Newton). Just one problem, it involves robbing a high security depository! When shown on BBC2 this trilogy was truly amazing and at the end of every episode the wait for the next was unbearable and I am currently noticing the same wait is still a problem as this trilogy is repeated on The Sci-Fi Channel. Finally we have "Die Me Dichtomy" in which John (Ben Browder) attempts to overcome Scorpius' (Wayne Pygram) influence with tragic results for one member of the crew!!! Roll on season three.
