The best gets better as FIFA raises the bar on football sims Player likenesses are more realistic than ever The new dribbling system gives even tighter control The manager mode has seen significant improvement Brand new this year is the 360 degree dribbling system, giving you the most precise control ever. There are also changes to how the defensive line is formed, as well as improvements to crosses, freekicks and goalkeepers (who can now receive red cards). Naturally the game retains its hugely successful on and offline multiplayer modes, with new options and better stability for online play. With all these new features and more EA Sports are betting on FIFA remaining the champions for a long time to come. i play the game regularly with my 10yo son, find it highly entertaining and great fun, even though some (in light of world cup performances...!!)of player stats are over rated..!!.

Rated Rated 5 out of 5 by Joshua Wragg, derbyshire on 3rd June 2010

Pes 1 - awful names, awful commentator, better gameplay than fifa!, pes 2 same, pes 3 same, pes4 a complete step up and it was the best pes game ever, then came 5 which was even better, then came the "next generation" which buggered konami for whatever reason, and then came the underwhelming pes 6, followed by the abismal pes 08, and finally where i stopped purchasing pes 09. There are many reasons why pes was the best for so long, but at the moment the gulf between fifa and pes is monumental. Admittadley i bought fifa 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004 and found them games nice. but nothing i could really get involved in like pes. But now my love for football games has come back since *thank the heavens!* fifa 09 came out, it wassss fannnnntastic After a mate got it on its release day and told me how amazing it was i was very un-acceptance of this fact i decided to do what any pes fan does and call him a fifa fan boy, and a disgrace to the football world for buying "fifa!" of all games lol. Could it get better, could fifa 10 be the ultimate football game?? REALLY? .. it really is. And since purchasing fifa 10 i have never looked back - who cares about pes 10, it's all about fifa 10 now, and whoever is still clinging on to lost memorys playing pes, then let go and move on to bigger and better things! It's so satisfying holding on to possession for about 5 minutes before eventually playing that killer ball, or chipping it over the despairing keeper. It plays so realisticly too, it really will be difficult to top this. And if it does? :O:O i think i may cry a tear of happyness. I realised i made it sound like i have done nothing my entire life but play football games but it was just to show how good fifa is, and my gratitude to them for persisting and not giving up when fifa was a frowned upon game, and regularly regarded as trash. Oh well, if you still aren't convinced about playing or buying fifa then you will never be! just do yourself a favour and play it, and find out for yourself. 10/10! !

Gamplay has been improved, Graphics have gone down...

Rated Rated 4 out of 5 by Mr. B. H. Symonds on 4th May 2010

There are many gameplay improvements, which got rid of the things that annoyed me about fifa 9, however i strongly feel graphics have got much worse, if you dont care for the look of a game at all, then go ahead buy it as the gameplay is pretty good this time

fun but some bad side effects

Rated Rated 3 out of 5 by A. Wolfe, Faversham, Kent, UK on 2nd May 2010

i bought this game seeing as my other Fifa game i had was fifa 07 which i thought was very good. when i first played fifa 10 i was surprised how different the graphics were and how much more realistic it was. however after playing several games i realised that there were some problems: - it is nearly impossible to score a free kick without having to do a special technique which involves pulling down on the left stick. this was very frustrating seeing as i conceded alot of goals because the AI could easily score and i couldn't. - secondly the refereeing at times can be extremely unfair such as when i pass, the referee seems to deflect it on to the other teams player meaning that the other team can make a move. the decisions can also be very biased. - the online play can be very annoying since it sometimes freezes randomly. - i tried for fun to make a new player that was 99 out of 100 in skill level. but the player although being supposedly the best player in my game still had shots worse than Nickalas Bendtners! i can understand people complaining about this review being unfair but when you have spent alot of money buying the game then u can understand. i don't hate the game i still think its better than MW2 but it maybe needs a few updates to clear up the problems. overall i think fifa 07 was one of the best fifa games and i still play it today.

An wonderful football game until I got to the end of the second season...

Rated Rated 3 out of 5 by Mr. R. Adams, Hamster Party on 1st May 2010

... and then the game crashed. I tried starting all over again thinking it must simply be that play through only for it to happen again. I really did enjoy playing on this game also which made the half experience rather depressing. As already mentioned in numerous other reviews FIFA 10 is very similar to 09 in ways but I felt that the way the player dribbles with the ball, shoots and tackles is more immersive. Whilst playing 09 I also got the impression that you were playing in a world where the gravity was slightly lower then it is in the actual world. So all in all the game made an improvement, small but they still added to the overall quality of the game leaving me satisfied to the degree I expected. The game is a great game, I don't know if they didn't have time to polish it off perfectly but there was the instance already mentioned alongside issues such as random jamming and crashing and other annoying niggles. Still I wait excitedly for FIFA 11, hopefully the game will be kind to me this next time around and not jam, crash and cause unnecessary anger.

Excellent football game

Rated Rated 5 out of 5 by Fadhli on 30th April 2010

I've been a fan of Pro Evo (PES) since I was a teenager. To me, Fifa football games had great graphics but poor gameplay. However, over the years, EA Sports have incorporated Konami's great gameplay into their Fifa games. In Fifa 10, it even has its own great innovation; the 360-degree move amongst others. Now, Fifa 10 not only has beautiful graphics, it has wonderful gameplay as well. After playing it several times on my friend's console, I just had to buy one for myself and I'm not regretting it. Sure, there are still some aspects of Fifa 10 that I don't quite like such as the less flexible tactics/formation change (you have to save a formation before you can actually use it for example), but overall, I'd recommend it to anyone out there to get this game.

And the Oscar for "Great game hamstrung by fatal technical problems" this year goes to...

Life likes to set us little philosophical questions from time to time. Things like: "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?", "Is there a God?" and "Is it true that watching 10 minutes of The X-Factor will reduce your IQ by 5 points?" (By the way the answer to the tree question, rather bizarrely, is "Yes - but only if it's evergreen".) But we rarely expect a videogame to ask us such questions. FIFA 10 asks us one. So did FIFA 09. I expect 2010 FIFA World Cup will ask us the same question too. The questions is: "What is the point of having a great game if you can't play it?" EA have started making decent football games again in recent years. And as a Pro Evo fan since the days it was ISS, you've no idea how strange that sounds to me. FIFA 09 was a really good football game. FIFA 10 is an excellent football game - arguably the best simulation of football yet devised by sentient beings. The consensus on 2010 FIFA World Cup (although admittedly I haven't played it and neither will I be for reasons that will become clear) is that it makes further improvements. However, as a fellow disappointed customer P. Alexander said (a lot more concisely than me) a few days ago, these games have "more bugs than that scene from king kong". They are many and varied and all interfere with the potential enjoyment of the game to greater or lesser extent. Now a few bugs and glitches we can all understand. Videogames are fearsomely complex beasts these days and fine tuning every little nuance of gameplay must be nigh on impossible. What I do expect though for my hard earned cash (especially in these times of economic uncertainty) is a game that will actually let me play it. I played about a season and a half of Manager Mode, and an awful lot of offline multiplayer, got the occasional freeze, thought nothing of it. Then I got about halfway through my first season of "Be A Pro", gained the captaincy of the mighty Norwich City (OTBC!), had a quick look at the squad, found I'd been replaced on the teamsheet by a goalkeeper called something like "-164813165" (perhaps he's Russian...) and when I attempted to play the next game my 360 froze completely. I turned off and loaded the game again and this time it froze on the Arena. And it keeps freezing. Now I can't play my game. At all. And what's most annoying is that I was really enjoying it. I scoured the message boards and found literally hundreds of other people, on both the PS3 and 360, with the same or similar problems - problems, I might add, that have been hanging around since the launch of FIFA 09 (if not earlier). And if the problem, as seems most likely, is linked to a corruption of the Virtual Pro save data that means whatever mode I try to use him/me in will go belly up too. The best EA can suggest is to delete all your saves and start again. What? Are they mad? Have they any idea how much time I've put into those saves? Do they expect me to wipe out my glorious 90th minute winner against Leeds like it never happened? Or my brace on my first appearance for England? Do they expect me to wipe away my rather lumpy, yet strangely appealing "Gameface"? There's part of my soul in there! Do they have any idea how long it took me to download that damn thing in the first place? (Actually, don't get me started on that, I still have nightmares.) Now, let's be clear, I play a lot of videogames - always have, always will. Far more than any healthy 34 year old man should be playing truth be told. And I have never played a game in my life that has consistently demonstrated as many technical problems as FIFA 10. As EA seem hell bent on ignoring any and all criticism/cries for help on their official forums I've decided to hit them where they least like it - in their wallets - by complaining here at the store front in the vague and distant hope that just a few of you good people will think twice about buying a game that will draw you in like a Siren with its long flowing game modes, pert controls and huge firm... goals before dashing you on the rocks of it not blooming working. FIFA 09 was riddled with bugs and kept crashing and freezing. FIFA 10 was riddled with bugs and kept crashing and freezing. 2010 FIFA World Cup... well, you do the math(s). Thanks for listening. Rant over.
