Final Fantasy XIII - Collectors Edition (Xbox 360)

The gameplay graphics are absolutely fantastic! The movie sequences mind blowing! The whole Final Fantasy series in general has been great with some better than others, but after playing this game I'd like to say that it doesn't disappoint (from a Final Fantasy Fan's perspective). The story, like all other FF games is fantastic and the battle style, having reverted back to the classic turn based system, is great for strategic purposes, but does however take away some of the realism in fighting style (as in Final Fantasy XII where, I believe, the battle system is more realistic). As an avid gamer and a die hard FF fan, I can honestly say that this game has ticked all the boxes for me.

Flashy graphics and a great soundtrack don't hide the fact that so far I've only liked one out of quite a size-able cast. The majority of characters are cold and everyone's motivations are so vague it's hard to connect with them. With every other FF I've played, the antagonist has been clear, but not so with this. Tbh, there are too many fal'cies, l'cies, and god knows what else that I have no idea who the common enemy is. Whatever. It's still pretty fun and the pretty colours are quite distracting. One for die hard fans only I think.

This is the episode I've liked the least of all the ones I've played (from VII onwards), with an often chaotic combat system with an AI that -let's put it that way- doesn't always do what it should. There's no possibility of customizing the behaviour of the paradigms and you don't grow attached to the story or characters at all. I'm in the final chapter and I feel like I've been wandering on a very long (when I say very, I mean VERY) long aisle with no particularly remarkable situations along the way. However, a nice ending to the story won't trick me like "Sixth Sense" and I'll still think there's plenty of room for improvement to match its predecessors. To sum up, if you're a big FF fan you'll like this one, but if you miss the old compelling stories and unforgetable characters, look somewhere else.

You'll either love it or hate it. This game is engrossing, deep and spectacularly well crafted. However it isn't a typical JRPG title, meaning some players may not feel comfortable with the new gameplay mechanics (eg: the new battle system). It also takes a lot of play-time to develop and really get into, which many will find a nuisance. However, if you embrace the changes and give it a little time you'll find a real gem of a game.

Wonderful game, yet another stunning addition to the ff saga. Only fault is that you can tell why it is ment for ps3 as some parts are laggy, but apart from that one of my favorite ff. A must buy for ff collectors.
