Celebrating over 70 years of family fun, the legendary property trading game Monopoly is hitting Wii in a whole new way! The world's most popular board game returns in 2008 with 'Monopoly: Here & Now - The World Edition,' a modern makeover of the classic game. With a host of current-day cities and landmarks from all over the world, this new version will let players wheel and deal and compete to own some of the most recognised locales on Earth. EA brings this exciting new edition of the beloved board game to Wii for the first time along with entirely new features that focus on super-fast play, fun and interactive minigames and four-player simultaneous gameplay. Players can now host the ultimate Monopoly night with family and friends. Get Rich Quick - In this all-new, super-fast version, trade properties and compete in exciting minigames to see who makes the top of the rich list! Group Play - Up to four players can simultaneously join in on the "rags to riches" fun. Monopoly Past, Present & Future - The most extensive collection of Monopoly boards all in one package - from the newest 'Monopoly: Here & Now - The World Edition' to classic 'Monopoly.' Now Boarding - Fill up your passport as you play to unlock new and never-before-seen Monopoly boards.
A good game if you play with other people, although the original board game is much better because you get to choose the banker. There's some nice features, though, such as the mini games and the Richest Edition mode, which is quite different from the original monopoly game. However, I bought this game to play single player against the computer and herein lies the problem. The game is "extremely biased" towards the computer players winning. Firstly, there's throwing the dice - which should be completely random. After playing about 5 or 6 times, it became very apparent that each throw was fixed. If I managed not to land on someone else's property (which is very rare), I would usually land on a chance or community chess which cost me money in fines. It's also amazing how many times I've passed go, collected my £200, and then landed on the £200 income tax. I don't think I've 'ever' picked up a chance or community chess card that rewarded me. In consequence, the computer players have lots of luck on their side. I use the word "luck" in the loosest possible sense. It's pretty evident that the AI helps the computer players avoid landing on your properties, and nearly always gives them a reward when landing on one of the card squares. This makes the game virtually impossible to win as it is so obviously fixed. My advice - stick to the classic board game and give this a miss.
This game is just like the board game and is pure fun...I would recommend to anybody
Quite simply this is one of the best games I have, though only buy it if you have lots of friends, as it's rubbish in single player. Me, my sis, my mum and my uncle love this game, and play it at least once a week, though often a lot more. (My dad doesn't like video games.) It's fun and doesn't have loads of weird and crazy modes, just two, one is the normal Monopoly and the other is actually a lot of fun, and better for 1 player than the normal one. We love the variety in boards, but still play the classic and world boards most, with the deco board being my 3rd favourite. We all love this game, and I bet you will too. Buy it.
The game is good, but it seem strange playing a board game of the TV.
fun game, but somehow when playing against computer they always get the lucky breaks or cheat!
Overall this game is great, it will creat hours of fun for everyone. I see that some people are complaining about the man being a little annoying, but by pressing one of the buttons on the wii remote (i think its the B button, im not sure) you can actually stop what he is about to say so you can quickly proceed with the game. I bought this game for christmas and havn't stopped playing it since.
Fab game we play as a family and have great fun!!!! musics a bit annoying though
Its a good game. you dont have to do much tho & could soon get bored
If you like the original type of monopoly then give this a go. It is very clever, works out all the money etc and doesnt need putting away at the end. You can save your game half way through with no annoying bank notes to clear up! It does take a little bit of working out and getting used to to know how to trade properties etc but is worth persevering as gets easier with use! My husband finds the graphics a little hard to read on the tv screen although we have a large tv, but I think thats more a problem with his eyes rather than the game itself as I dont have the same problem.
The game is good fun but has a few annoying aspects, particularly the commentator who cannot be turned off. However, in general we have enjoyed playing it.
