Ever since being brought up by The Beatles, Frankie Boyle has been a tremendous liar. Join him on his adventures with his chum Clangy The Brass Boy and laugh as he doesn't accidentally kill a student nurse when a party gets out of hand.
This book is easy reading and really funny, I found myself reading it in a Scottish accent :-)
Very funny book. I have read several comic's autobiographies in the past and this is one of the funniest. Laugh out loud stuff.
In such a PC world (will someone pleeeease think of the children!!!) this book is like a cold lager on a vey hot summer day - love it.
I'm not entirely sure what all of the negative reviews are getting at, clearly they bought this book thinking it would be nothing but Mock the Week content. It isn't. This book does make you laugh out loud on many occasions, however, this is a book about Frankie Boyle's life - so don't expect it to be full of sunshine and roses. The problem probably is that people think that Frankie on screen is different to Frankie off screen. From what I've seen and read they're the same person, not some sort of angry, Scottish 'character'. So if all you're looking for is lots of jokes then don't buy this. If instead you'd like to read about Frankie Boyle's life with some hilarious jokes chucked in the mix, then go ahead and buy this. Beware, this isn't for the faint hearted.
I have always loved Frankie Boyle on the telly and like the fact that he is 'edgy', so was really looking forward to this read. I love autobiographies, anybodies and everybodies, famous or not but if you think you are in for a rollocking good laugh forget it! I haven't even bothered finishing it, which is a first with books for me. Its neither witty nor funny... just crude without that edge that all makes us cringe but secretly we are nodding our heads in agreement. Don't waste your money or your reading time. This book can be very well summed up by the adjective in its title!
Although well aware of Frankie Boyle's style and often extreme views on life when on Mock the Week, I was very disappointed by this book. I had expected it to be wildly irreverent, controversial and give an insight into his pre-TV appearance days - but, above all, I expected it to be funny. It was not even worth a smile let alone a belly laugh! While I expected some bad langauge, I was not prepared for the constant use of this. Overall, I would describe this book as utter rubbish and not worth the paper it is printed on - it is so bad that, rather than pass it on to friends or put in a charity bag, I consigned it to the recycling bin. The only saving grace was that I paid an Amazon price for it rather than a Waterstones!
A great read love his early life bit in Scotland - does seem to peter out a bit towards the end. Starts filling it with chunks of old scripts.
People, I kid you not. This book arrived at my house about fifteen minutes ago. I took one look at the eight word dedication and pissed myself. By the second page of the introduction the tears were rolling down my cheeks. I had not reached the first chapter before I was rolling around my living room floor in fear of suffocation because my body was locked solid in paralysing mirth. I am now banned from reading it whilst the wife is in the house, she can't bear to see me enjoying myself so much. You don't have to buy it but you sure are missing out if you don't.
This book gives a fascinating insight into the man who is Frankie Boyle. I personally enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend this if you are a fan or are not easily shocked.
im not much of a reader, in-fact i never read, but i bought this because he is my favorite comedian, and i have yet to put it down!!! it is so funny, from start to finish, he is a brilliant man, and i couldn't recommend this highly enough, even to those who don't normally read much.
