Regularly touted as one of the best British sitcoms ever, Only Fools and Horses kicked off in 1981 when mobile phones were the size of bricks and wine bars were the ultimate places to hang out in. The formula was simple enough: Cockney wide boy Derek Trotter (brilliantly played by David Jason) dreams of better things for himself while sharing a cramped council flat in the nicely named Peckham tower block Nelson Mandela House with his unworldly brother Rodney and his sweet but doddery old granddad. Trouble is, Del's endless money-making schemes (such as his attempt to flog a consignment of one-legged turkeys, or his plan to sell bottled tap water) inevitably backfire, like the knackered old van he uses to cart around all this faulty gear. Created by John Sullivan, who also sings the very catchy theme song, Only Fools and Horses is a wonderful mix of dodgy but loveable characters (such as Del Boy's dimwit friend Trigger), knockabout slapstick (no one falls down with as much comedic grace as Jason), and brilliantly crafted dialogue. The show ran seven seasons and ended with characteristic warmth in 1991, when Del Boy became a father; but the Trotters made occasional returns to the small screens with six hugely popular one-off Christmas specials. As Del Boy himself might say: "Lovely jubbly."

I don't know what to do now... help!. I was going to buy this boxset for my boyfriend for christmas because he absolutly loves only fools and horses and unfortunatly we don't have UKTV gold as we only have free view.
anyway as i said i was going to buy him this for christmas from where i work as it is only £60 then with staff discount and vouchers it would have been only £37! but after reading reviews i'm not so sure........ am i making the right decision buying it if i'm only going to be paying £37???? please help

Brilliant get it now!. I grow up with O.F.A.H and I love every single episode. All the actors are magnificent. It isn't the normal BBC programme that you would find nowadays. (Not saying they are bad) It's the way you meet each character I think that makes it so good. I didn't see the 1st couple of series because I was too young. I started watching it about series 6. Then I started getting the DVD'S it was nice to see how the program started out and what has made them the people they were in the later series. I think it was a brave move to bring in two women for Del Boy (David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst). This is only because it had grown so much from when it first started. This is because it was about two men trying to pull. This is when I think they new they had to let them grow up. And I think I was good how they made the 4 of them the main people in the programme

Even the TV has gone PC. Interesting to read the 2 star rated comment on unedited versions on UKTV Gold. Having very recently watched an episode on the aforementioned channel I distinctly recognised the editing of a scene, obviously to satisfy the PC brigade. This originally harmless but funny scene just fell flat. Like the other reviewers I think I'll pass on this collection until the BBC can play the whole gig and start selling us back our licence fee funded products unadulterated.

" LUVVLY JUBBLY". Two words sums up the Only Fools And Horses Box Set "LUVVLY JUBBLY". Yes there are very minor editing cuts which are hardly noticable unless you know word for word the scripts and scenes but for the general joe/joan who just wants to sit down with a cup of tea and a bourbon biscuit and have laugh at the classic comedy that is still unrivalled then this is a box set not to be missed and at a current price of less than £85 is as Del would say himself "A Bargain Of A Life Time". It looks as if we will never get a full unedited version as shown on tv so i say make the most of a near perfect match. After all what do you expect from a Trotter. "LUVVLY JUBBLY" Buy It Now!!!!!!

SO GLAD I READ THE REVIEWS. Absolutely love OFAH and have seen them all. Moved to Oz they have never heard of it until recently on UKTV. We have series 1 to 7 and wanted to buy full box set for wifes birthday. She would be so stoked(oz slang) but we could never buy or enjoy edited versions. This series is a master piece and should be sold as untouched full version specifically when coming from its home the uk. Stop being cheap BBC and Amazon pass this feedback to the makers its just not on.
