Samsung Ml-2240 Mono Laser Printer

I bought five of these printers for our office and all of them have broken in the same way. The printer will print normal paper fine and seems like a great bargain but if you try to print anything even slightly thicker, the printer can't cope with it and even worse is never able to feed even normal paper again. So fragile and not worth the money - spend a little bit more and buy something more reliable.

This printer is really fast and cost affective. Ideal for someone who wants day to day letters, reports etc printed quickly with minimal fus. Only bad point is it does not like to print envelopes, it causes envelopes to rip or crinkle up at the end. Spoke to Samsung support who were a complete waste of time and not very helpful at all. They suggested we were using the wrong type of envelopes! Yeah right. One other issue, is that when networked, the network PCs print faster than the host. This seems to be due to the monitoring software on the host. I didnt bother to try and get "help" on this as its a minor problem. Apart from that I would definately recommend this small discrete printer for the reasons I have highlighted.

I had previously purchased a Samsung ML1210 and been very happy with it. This new machine claimed to have 3000 plus sheets per cartridge. However, 300 Prints into using the machine and the ink ran out using normal text print on plain white paper.

I bought this printer at the beginning of the fall term, and it has worked wonderfully. I'm approaching 500 pages printed and I've had exactly one paper jam, and the toner is still going strong. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would recommend it to anyone!

Comparable to the ML1610 that I used to have, but a bit faster, and a bit noisier when printing. Contrary to other reports this printer works perfectly under Linux.

Got it delivered by Amazon in less than 24 hours. Small footprint. Super quick printing. Installation on Vista 64-bit was OK. Text excellent but some banding in graphics and pictures. Software is excellent. Overall excellent choice and price is spot on, with cheap toners available.

I had the misfortune to purchase this printer just under 3 months ago. It worked for a month. I then sent it back to Samsung (I had to contact them only twice to arrange this), who immediately returned it to me telling me it worked perfectly. I plugged it in & tried to print: nothing. Samsung tell me that the cartridges I have for the machine are incorrect (including the one with which it was supplied!) & that these may have damaged the unit. Why then did they tell me it worked when they had it? After approximately 20 phone calls over 3 weeks, I am now waiting for a cartridge to try in the machine, which I am told will be another 10 days. I have absolutely no confidence that the cartridge will work.

Bought this printer because I have used a laser printer before and enjoyed the reduced running costs. This printer is excellent value and can be refilled easily so will be cheap as chips to run. Much faster than my previous laser printer.

Its just fab. Good quality, Easy to install. U just need to order the USB cable with it as this is not included. and the price for such a good performance is a bonus. highly recommended

It took about 5 minutes to set up this printer and install the driver software on Windows XP, and it worked first time without any problems. I have selected the toner-saving setting, and the quality is just great; in fact, it is my wife's printer, and I have not told her that it is on the lower-quality print setting, and she has not commented, so it must be good! I am very interested to see how many pages she gets out of the 'starter toner' that is provided. It's supposed to be 700, but I'm hoping to get the extra 30% as suggested with the current print settings. My only criticism of this printer is that it is quite noisy when printing, but it's fine for occasional use. Having said that, I have no point of reference with regards to the amount of noise that budget printers make. In standby mode, it is silent.
