A best-selling course for absolute beginners, Talk Frenchhas been consistently popular withboth those learning at home and those learning in a class, as well as with tutors. It provides you with a clear, simple and successful way of learning and gives you the best grounding in the basics of French.
Great book..easy to follow and I even managed within 3 weeks to learn enough basic French to understand what people were saying and also say little bits myself!
I use this book for small classes of adults and it's fantastic. It starts with easy language for complete beginners, and builds up - but even at the end it's still pretty simple. All the topics covered are useful. It's good value too. There's no grammar overload: it's all about listening and talking, so good for travellers, and for people who just want to have fun with their language learning. (Not likely to be great if you're taking it seriously and thinking about exams in future). The CD is useful too and the website has some good stuff although it's not always obviously linked to the same 'curriculum' as the book.
Very good. lent to someone who never returned it so bought another one plus the 2nd cd.
BEING A COMPLETE BEGINNER IN THE FRENCH LANGUAGE I STARTED WITH THE TALK FRENCH 1 COURSE PACK, WHILST ONE OF THE FEMALE VOICE WAS A BIT GRATING, THE OVERALL COURSE WAS GOOD. COURSE 2 WOULD NOW BE THE OBVIOUS SUCCESSION, HOWEVER, FROM THE ONSET IT IS HUGELY MORE ADVANCED THAN THE LAST STAGE OF TALK FRENCH 1. ONE BENFIT OF TALK FRENCH 2 IS THAT THE VOICES ARE EASIER TO LISTEN TO AND FOR THAT REASON I WILL BE USING THE COURSE CD'S TO PRACTICE PRONOUNCIATION. SHAME THAT THERE WASN'T A TALK FRENCH 1.5.
The BBC Talk language books are great. The easiest way to start learning a language. The only fault I have with the one I bought was that I thought it came with the CD... the ones with the CDs are definatly the best ones. I have a Japanese and Italien BBC Talk with the audio CDs and they are fantastic. I would recommend this product... but only with the CD with it :)
Wanted the book/cd to compliment evening school language course. Its doing the job well
Good, clear instructions.Logical progression and includes subject areas likely to be of use. The response time on the first two discs could be a little short on occasion. Disc three is a good exercise in listening skills.
A good course for those who speak little or no french and want a fast start. Also very useful for those who - like me - are trying to refresh their french before going on holiday, etc. Very good value and extremely easy to use.
A great DVD to learn French with for the novice and as a means of revision between trips to France Highly recommended
I ordered a French course book with two CDs. The book arrived, together with CD2. CD1 was missing. This has rendered the purchase useless to me, as I was more interested in the CDs than the book as I wanted to learn French in the car. Although I have contacted the seller twice about this, I have had no response.
