Not sure what I was expecting, but by the end of the film I was confused and left with the thought, 'what came first, the chicken or the egg?' As someone who loves romances etc, I found this quite hard going, to be honest not a film I would go out of my way to watch again.
This film was an interesting watch. It has some nice moments & magical moments too. The ending is very sad & it's also my favourite part of the movie. Shows no good can come from hunting. The fate of the time traveler could have been prevented. But of course the ending wouldn't have been what it was without. I didn't like the constant nudity, makes you feel uncomfortable. It wasn't a very enjoyable watch, more of an interesting watch that you can only watch once.
i found this a very dis jointed film...you know when you watch a film and think what was that all about...well here it is. a far better film to watch and its a classic is somewhere in time. sorry but i was not impressed a big dissapointment
I was pretty happy with this. I think they did a really good job from the book. The book is still better and made me cry more (yes, there were a few tears when watching this) but the movie held its own. I liked Eric Bana as Henry. And I LOVE Rachel McAdams and thought she did great as claire but almost felt she was too pretty for him... But might just be because I love her. They connected great though and managed to capture the heat but also the love and familiarity that the book conveyed between the two characters. Couple of things I remembered that they missed out or changed but it didn't take away from the story and it probably made more sense for a film and the time they had to fit everything in. I really liked the way it was made, and think they handled Henry's ability well, it looked good. So all in all, i'm pleased. Really enjoyed watching it. I'd recommend it to those you like a good story, bit of drama and at the heart of it, a love story.
I wasn't sure whether to see this film after reading some of the revues comparing it to the book, I haven't read the book. I thought it was superb, a slow kind of atmospheric film. Maybe the book is better - who cares ! Books are books, and films of them are sometimes different. So what ! See it.
Great film. I was a bit unsure whether I would like it having loved the book but the film was great. Obviously they have had to condense the book to fit the length of a film.
I'm use to seeing Eric Bana star in action films such as "Troy" and "The Hulk" yet he still holds the screen very well in The Time Traveler's Wife which shows he is a good actor. Rachel McAdams is the wife to Eric Bana who has no control over where or when he is going to time travel. The story is very gripping and at times complex. I did find it a bit slow at times and wanted a more happy ending but I was a bit tired and feeling a bit blue when I was watched it. I'm a big sci-fi fan so having the time travelling mixed into a serious romantic film made it more enjoyable for me and just maybe his daughter could change the outcome if there was a sequel to be made. Anyway The Time Traveler's Wife is a romantic film in which both men and women will enjoy.
I saw this film at the cinema and regret it! I've not read the book and wouldn't want to after seeing the film. Everything was wrong - story /plot/acting - couldn't not work it out!
I usually approach a film before reading the book, as I always feel you get the best from both that way around. Unfortunatly, out of recommendation from a freind, I chose to read "The Time Traveller's Wife" before watching the film adaptation. While I wasn't massively disappointed in the film, it wasn't quite as good as I anticipated from watching the trailers, which had me literally on the edge of my seat. Perhaps it was because I already knew what was to come, from reading the book. I thought Eric Bana did a great job as Henry, and the characters of Alba and Clare were also well portrayed. It was full of emotion, and the direction was fantastic. The chemistry between the two main characters was apparent, but I felt, in places, lacking. The film seems to concentrate less on Clare as a child, and I felt the relationship between the too seemed shorter somehow, as if they hadn't quite fully connected. I thought it seemed a little sketchy on details, and seemed to skip a little too much backwards and forwards, which is OK in the book, as you can re-read parts that don't make sense, but here it sometimes seemed to have a scene missing. Overall, I thought this was a really good film, defiantly one that I would recommend, even if it is not quite as perfect as the book, it makes for fantastic viewing in it's own entity!
I really enjoyed the book and this DVD of the story really brought it to life for me. The subject was handled in a very sympathetic way and produced a really enjoyable movie. I recommend it any one who enjoyed the book of the story
