TRUST HU-4440P 4 PORT USB2 MINI HUB

Product only lasted a few months as strands of wire from the connecting cable keep poking out. Product might be OK if you never move it but when used with a laptop, this is exactly what you do. Everytime the cable moved, it kinked and wires became visible until one by one the ports stopped working. Not a good design.

Purchased in January 2008 and It's died in February 2010. Even when it was working it was unreliable with 1 or 2 out of 4 ports working most of the time. I'm going to buy an AC Mains powered usb hub to replace it, hubs like these aren't much good for any high powered items like 360 controllers, cameras, phones etc. Avoid this hub, it will just irritate you in a few months time when it starts giving up

Very small compact hub that works a treat. Does the job for me. No problems with it. Good stuff!!

Very tidy, very handy and it worked for about a year then suddenly died. I would expect to get 3 years at least. Not a reliable item.

I bought one of these based on how neat and tidy it was. It's small and light and doesn't need additional power. Soon after getting this product though it stopped working completely without warning. One day it was working fine the next nothing. My PC doesn't recognise it and I haven't found any fixes that work. A complete waste of money. Trust should really recall this product as the quality of it is obviously poor going by the numerous reported failures. Trust, not likely.

Its compact size, light weight, and the fact that its host powered (draws power from a USB port as opposed to the mains) makes it ideal to carry around with a laptop. This was the main reason that I purchased this model, as my now rather old Laptop only has two USB ports which in the age of USB devices isn't enough. The hub is beyond easy to use - any person that knows how to plug it in knows how to use it. It requires no drivers or any further installation on your part. Sadly that's everything positive that can possibly be said about this hub, as I was soon to discover it was destined for the rubbish bin. It has a rather major design flaw, as the USB ports that it provides you with are too close together, they are actually closer than they appear in the picture of the hub. Some USB cables are chunkier than others (such as the moulded plug on my scanner) which when plugged in blocks adjacent ports. It also means you'll have the same problem if you're using a flash drive that's wider than the USB connection. The build quality isn't the greatest, the actual plastic shell seems solid enough but the actual USB sockets in side the hub tend to move when your inserting or removing a cable, I imagine that this isn't a device that can withstand repetitive and prolonged use. Sometimes when I have my external hard drive connected to the hub it disappears at random. I suddenly hear my laptop make a beep-beep sound and the icon disappears from my computer. I imagine that if this was to happen when the device was active such as transferring data, then it could result in lost or corrupt data. It works with my large scanner which I was pleased with, but surprisingly enough it does not work with at all with my USB optical mouse, when I plug it in to the hub my computer doesn't even see it. Its light weight is also a disadvantage as it means it moves every time you do, which isn't a problem if you want it to use with a laptop, but it's a pain if you want to use it on a computer desk (Blu-tack would come in handy.) At the end of the day it has too mainly failings for my requirements to whole heartily recommend it to you, unless your looking to fill up a bin bag. It's been awarded two stars since it's cheap, compact, and (sometimes) manages to do what it say's on the tin.

Very handy item. I use it with my laptop and can print, have my mouse in and wireless internet, all together.

When I found this piece of gadgetry I thought that it was just what I needed - a four-port USB Hub - and for that price I thought that it was fantastic! But I was so wrong... One thing that is very annoying about it is the size of the connection cable. It is far too short - rather like the sort of thing that looks like it would snap if you accidentally knocked it off the desk. This is rather impracticle when you have a few rather large peripherals. Secondly, the USB ports are far too close together, so if you have a Wireless USB adapter - and they can be rather large - you would not be able to fit another USB cable alongside that. Something wlse that I found rather disconcerting about the Hub was the fact that to insert the USB cables, you have to apply quite a lot of force, which I don't like. It really felt like you were going to damage the inside of the USB head. Now, this is where the Hub really goes wrong. I had used it for about half-an-hour and I found that it was beginning to not recognise the peripherals that I plugged into it! By the way, I do not exaggerate when I say that I had only had it plugged in for half-an-hour. It really was only that soon before it ceased to work. So, to round this little review off, I will simply say that if I were you, I would steer well clear of this Hub. Personally, I'd spend a bit more money on something that is going to work, rather than be cheap. However, in saying that, i am sure that there are plenty of good-quality, inexpensive USB Hubs out there. It's just a case of finding the right one! Thanks for reading - I hope that it's been helpful!
