She Has Many Skills...A Whole Six Seasons Worth!. This is the special collectors boxed edition of the complete Xena series. That's all 6 seasons packed into a rather fetching slipcase. 36 DVD discs are fitted inside the pages of the specially designed book folder. It's a bit fiddly but rather cool looking. The whole thing runs for 94 hours and 27 mins. So that's a lot of Xena! Unfortunately Playback have only released region 2 versions of the discs, so there are no extras like region 1 contains. Boo! Hiss!
Since this is six seasons worth of Xena, I'll break it down. Warning- there may be slight semi-spoilers ahead...
SEASON 1- The intro to Xena and her plucky little sidekick bard Gabrielle. Apparently Xena was a terrifying warlord who was once named the 'Destroyer of Nations' and killed lots of people and is now feeling a tad guilty about it all. After a life changing encounter with Hercules, she decides to reform and become a warrior who fights for the greater good. She has a rocky start, but her friendship with Gabrielle helps her face a lot of her inner demons including Ares the manipulative God of War who wants to entice her back to the dark side. This season also introduces the Amazons, the crazy vengeful Callisto and the bumbling warrior Joxer who all become recurring features throughout the series.
SEASON TWO- The continuing adventures explore the best and worst of Xena's character as her dark past is revealed. This season also features the hilarious 'A Day in the Life' that depicts Xena and Gabby just kicking back and having a typical day. Fishing, flying kites, fending off fans and fighting giants... Extremely funny stuff!
SEASON THREE- This is perhaps the darkest of the seasons where the friendship between Xena and Gabrielle is tested to its limit. There's a traumatic encounter with a demon god that paves the way for terrible consequences to eventually befall both of them. This also features the fantastic 'Bitter Suite' musical episode that showcases Lucy Lawless the actress who plays Xena, as a great singer.
SEASON FOUR- This is devoted to Gabrielle trying to come to terms with all the trauma she endured previously and shows her seeking new meaning in her life. Xena, of course is always by her side. We are also introduced to the concept of Soulmates and a deadly new villain- Alti the Demonic Shamaness of the Northern Amazon tribes who has shared a terrible vision with Xena.
SEASON FIVE- This explores the concept of Gabby becoming a full warrior and the protector of Xena who has become rather indisposed with a slight case of pregnancy. If that wasn't bad enough, it turns out all the Greek Gods want to destroy her unborn child because of a prophecy. Xena and Gabby take desperate measures to prevent this from happening, but as usual, there's a very high price to pay...
SEASON SIX- This is the last season with a bit of a mixed bag of episodes. Unlike previous seasons, there's no underlying theme, just some rather good stories that attempt to tie up loose ends. Gabrielle struggles as she comes to terms with being a warrior. Xena goes off on a quest to right a past wrong with the Norse Gods. Someone actually bloody CLONES them in the 21st Century! And there's a rather good alternative reality episode too. The last episode is a two parter called 'A Friend in Need' which although was very bitter sweet, ensures a highly dramatic if not memorable conclusion to the series.
Overall, this is a very entertaining fantasy epic filled to bursting with likable characters, fantastic storylines that flit almost seamlessly between tongue-in-cheek comedy to dark thrilling drama and absolutely brilliant action packed fight sequences. Xena is a series well worth treasuring and enjoying for years to come.
Highly recommended.

A great box set. OK so there are no extra's but I'm not complaining.
What you do get is 39 discs, all 6 series, over 94 hours of medieval magic. The on screen chemistry between Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor is superb, and there is a great comedy element largely provided by Ted Raimi as Joxer and occasionally by the manic Bruce Campbell as Autolycus in guest appearances.
There are so many stand-out episodes, from the start where Xena picks up Gabrielle, Death in Chains, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, One Against an Army, it gets a little weaker and a little too philosophical in the episodes with Eli but more than makes up for that with the later Norse gods episodes.
The series plays havoc with any thoughts of time-lines and geography, we have David and Goliath, Julius Caesar, Hercules, Aries, Ulysses, Boadicea, Ares, Pheidippides and the Spartans, Homer. Hell it's a fantasy series, why not?
This is one of those series that I kept catching odd episodes of and never too many on the trot. I got this set as soon as I saw it was being released, if you have the individual box sets keep them. With no extras it does not justify the extra cost and the prices being asked do smack a little of profiteering, but if people are willing to pay!
In closing I have to say it is a very impressive package and I do not regret the initial outlay. Outstanding.

Complete series - great!. As I'd missed the last three series of Xena when it was originally on TV - and didn't fancy purchasing the volumes separately (I'm sure that all of the series would have come to a higher price than the box set) I decided to get this. What a good decision it was.The box consists of a hard cardboard sleeve, with a book-type insert that houses the discs. Four discs are mounted on each page with the type of spindle that you find inside cd cases. Each page has a montage of different scenes from the episodes on the back. The numbering of the episodes can be a little confusing, so if you don't remember which disc you last watched, you can sometimes accidentally skip a disc! There are usually four episodes per disc, with the last of the series volumes being two or three episodes (depending on how big a volume is).Other than a few photo galleries there are no special features, but it is still worth the purchase, especially if you have missed episodes.A complete list of episode names adorns the back of the box.

It's just parts 1 and 2 of the season boxsets repackaged. Now,as I said in the title,it's just the parts 1 and 2 season boxsets repackaged,so if you already have the season boxsets I would n't advise buying this. What's more the total price of the season boxsets online is cheaper than this boxset anyway. So,why did I give it five stars?Well ,essentially if like me you are a Xenite this is a good Xena product, however I would wait till it goes down in price, because over £200 and no special features (except photo gallerys)is essentially a rip off. However,in conclusion I feel this is a quality product,so if you want it, buy it...however I cogitate that only true Xena fans should buy this release, because it is a lot of money!

One of the ALL-TIME greats. The complete adventures of the Warrior Princess come to DVD in a fab limited edition (internet only) box set. Starring the wonderful Lucy Lawless, Xena helped redefine genre television. A new kind of hero, Xena was an icon of the 90's -kicking ass with a style and confidence Buffy Summers could only dream of emulating when she grew up. From the knowingly camp to the achingly sad Lucy Lawless (Xena) and Rennee O'connor ('sidekick' Gabrielle)consistently performed as the best double-act on T.V. Highly recommended.
